Is this racial discrimination?

Ok here is the deal. I am a African-American male who lives in a fairly small mostly white town of Wisconsin Rapids, WI. I have applied to this job which I am very qualified for maybe even over qualified and I have met with the managers who love me and they have told me that I am a ideal candidate for the job. They loved my application and all but now it seems like they are still reluctant to hire me. They told me that they are exploring other candidates still and they have had me in limbo for this job for about a month. I am seriously starting to think that not because the manager is racist because he adopted African kids but I think he won't hire me because he doesn't think that the white customers will take kindly to a black male working in the store. Is this a legit form of discrimination or am I just paranoid Thanks. By the way I have no record or anything like that that could possibly keep me from a job.
